Santander Bank Polska Group

As one of the largest financial groups and the largest private bank in Poland, Santander Bank Polska Group offers state-of-the-art financial solutions to personal customers, micro, small and medium enterprises, and domestic and international corporations. The Bank operates one of the biggest networks of branches and partner outlets. It also renders services via electronic channels, including mobile banking.   • Banco Santander launches its operations in Poland.

    Santander takes over entire Finconsumo, an Italian consumer finance company, and acquires similar firms in Poland, Norway and the Netherlands. The bank also expands into Austria, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Hungary. All those companies become parts of Santander Consumer, Europe’s leading consumer finance provider.

  • BZ WBK becomes the first bank in Poland to offer microchip cards to all customers, a milestone in terms of card user security.

  • Bank Zachodni WBK opens its 500th branch.

  • The Banker, a reputable British magazine, names Bank Zachodni WBK “Bank of the Year 2010 in Poland.”

  • Sale of all shares of Bank Zachodni WBK S.A. held by AIB European Investments Ltd. (70.36% of share capital and voting power) to Banco Santander S.A.

  • Acquisition of 95.67% of share capital and voting power of Bank Zachodni WBK S.A. by Banco Santander S.A. in the tender offer for 100% of the bank's shares.

  • Santander Universidades is launched in Poland.

    The aim of this global Santander Group programme is to cooperate with universities to support university education and research initiatives. Over the next five years, 15,000 students and 3,000 academicians will have a chance to obtain financial support that will enable them to participate in international exchange programmes.

  • Merger of Bank Zachodni WBK S.A. and Kredyt Bank S.A. by way of acquisition (transfer of all assets of the acquired bank to the acquirer in exchange for newly issued series J shares allotted to shareholders of Kredyt Bank S.A.)

  • The “From Cranach to Picasso. The Santander Collection” exhibition is opened in the National Museum in Wrocław.

  • Execution of a transaction agreement between Bank Zachodni WBK S.A., Banco Santander S.A. and Deutsche Bank AG (DB AG) to purchase a demerged part of Deutsche Bank Polska S.A. and 100% of shares in DB Securities S.A.

  • Registration of the change of the bank’s name from Bank Zachodni WBK S.A. to Santander Bank Polska S.A. and its registered office address from Wrocław to Warsaw in the National Court Register.

    Santander Allianz Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń are two joint venture companies whose shareholders are: Santander Bank Polska S.A. and a company from the Allianz group. The activities of the Societies began in August 2008. Santander Aviva was operating until May 2022. Companies provide insurance protection for products offered by the bank.

    A universal leasing company, Santander Leasing offers financing for a wide range of assets to SME and corporate customers.

  • Santander Fundusze Inwestycyjne

     

    Santander Towarzystwo Funduszy Inwestycyjnych S.A. has been operating on the market for 20 years, winning the trust of almost 150,000 customers. The company invests in treasury and corporate bonds and shares of Polish and foreign companies.
